We’re making a difference through innovation and new ways of working. Together we’re shaping/creating a cleaner, greener future for our 11 million customers who we put at the heart of everything we do.

The Opportunity

The Engineering hydrogen transition team is looking for an enthusiastic, driven and open minded colleague willing to go the extra mile and continuously drive innovative thinking.

In summary, this role involves being the engineering and technical focal point for hydrogen gas transportation assets. Initially, this role will focus on developing the company’s engineering framework and technical standards for transporting hydrogen gas, and also supporting future of gas hydrogen projects. Example projects include HyNet, ECHP (East Coast Hydrogen Pipeline), and the London Capital H  Programme which encompass the design, construction and commissioning of a new hydrogen pipeline system with associated installations, supplying domestic and key large industrial users with carbon free hydrogen fuel.

You will be playing a pivotal role in safely, effectively and efficiently repurposing of the existing high pressure LTS (Local Transmission System) network, which directly connects to the high pressure NTS (National Transmission System) through off takes. This is your opportunity to firmly put the LTS on the roadmap of the hydrogen transition through demonstrating the capability to safely and agilely repurpose the existing natural gas assets to either natural gas / hydrogen blends or hydrogen.

This role will include working with internal and external stakeholders, taking a lead on development of the company’s internal standards for the transportation and distribution of hydrogen gas, interpreting and adopting outcomes from trials and research nationally and internationally. You will influence development of industry standards and projects as the company representative. Identify and define technical updates or addendums required to company standards for the transport of hydrogen and provide engineering support to hydrogen project design, construction and commissioning teams.
