Technician – Plant Tools & Equipment

Permanent  -  Full Time

Location: Birmingham, West Midlands

Salary  £29,808 - £30,841 depending on experience.

The opportunity

As our Plant Tools & Equipment Technician, you`ll be accountable for the delivery of operational activities for cyclical and ad hoc maintenance activities within Mechanical & Calibration Services, such as Pre-Heater remediation, Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) testing, Equipment testing, and bespoke fabrications. Also, be responsible for maintaining a proactive work environment focused on safety, quality, and timeliness of job completion.

 

Key accountabilities

  • Undertaking day-to-day Mechanical & Calibration activities such as welding, fitting, decommissioning, PAT testing, Tooling checks, pressure assurance checks, annual gas detection maintenance.
  • Updating risk assessments, reviewing method statements.
  • Ensuring permit / CP / AE requirements are supported.
  • Sharing, promoting, and facilitating/implementing technical and procedural best practice
  • Actively promoting and assuming the face of Cadent when responding to complaints and enquiries where required, creating a customer-focused environment.
  • Ensuring activities are in full compliance with safe Control of Operations procedures and CDM requirements
  • Responsible for a working environment that ensures the achievement of all safety and environmental legislation, engineering, and customer standards.
  • Demonstrating compliance with the required standards/company procedures.
  • Ensuring data capture and reporting are completed and up to date
  • Accountable for raising and fulfilling orders and Purchase Orders
  • Make certain that workplace standards are upheld and contribute to continuous improvement.

 

What you'll bring

The following qualifications, skills, and experience are required:

  • Mechanical Engineering NVQ  or relevant qualification
  • CP/ AE for Lifting, Hot works etc
  • SCO 1&2
  • City & Guilds 2377 or TEM 6 for non-electrical personal. The Operative must be qualified to City & Guilds 2377 or TEM 6 for non-electrical personal.
  • Qualified to T/PS/P2 and T/PS/P9
  • Experience in general welding requirements to BS EN 286 
  • A full valid UK driving license
  • Flexibility in your working hours
  • Competent under a STC process
