Two coastlines are available to explore along with the World Heritage Site of Hadrian’s Wall.

Our Opportunity: 

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, ideally with Oil & Gas or Renewables industry experience, you’ll join a growing team of big thinkers who love finding innovative solutions to our industry’s most challenging problems. 

Working at our Research and Testing site is no ordinary role. As a technical lead on our client projects, your role will be multi-faceted, combining safe operational delivery, project and people management skills and ensuring a quality and compliant service is delivered to our customers. 

You’ll be given real responsibility from day one, collaborating with forward-thinking customers and technical experts across our business, playing a leading role in our research and testing activities and helping deliver career and industry-defining projects. You will be given the time to build your network, the resources to support your development, and the freedom to satisfy your curiosity and desire to learn.

You’ll be responsible for the design and construction of full-scale, major hazard, experimental test rigs, through creating technical documents and scope of work packages with our clients, as well as developing specifications for mechanical systems and associated equipment, producing drawings and documents, controlling technical change and providing technical guidance and solutions. You’ll also participate in design reviews, HAZID/HAZOP studies and develop and review Performance Standards for Safety Critical Elements related to mechanical systems.

Our projects are truly unique. Our team specialise in carrying our full-scale experiments involving liquid and gaseous fuel releases, fire, explosion, product development and associated consultancy services to assure safe operations for our global energy and security customers.

What you will bring:

Here at DNV we try to keep our mandatory requirements to a minimum, recognising the value that a variety of experience and backgrounds can bring. Along with your natural curiosity and passion for our industry, there are however a few things which are essential to be considered for this opportunity:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering
  • Working towards or Chartered Engineer, with experience of working in an engineering organisation
  • Technically adept with demonstrable ability to produce design calculations and engineering drawings, an appreciation of technical safety and its impact on the various control systems gained within the energy industry
  • Adaptable and responsive with ability to proactively plan and manage multiple projects simultaneously to challenging deadlines, maintaining high performance without compromising on quality.
  • Commercially minded and solution orientated, possessing the ability to plan, price, win and manage new work to completion both to budget and timeframe.
  • Excellent communicator to both specialist and non-specialist stakeholders – including the ability to write clear and concise reports, robustly analyse data and present complex solutions and ideas.
  • UK Driving Licence
  • Must be willing and able to obtain and maintain a U.K. Security Clearance, application for clearance will be assisted by DNV
