The role

As a Gas Engineer, you'll deliver planned, reactive and remedial maintenance across a diverse estate, supporting heating, ventilation, water hygiene, sanitary and drainage systems. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same, offering the chance to work on a broad range of mechanical systems while contributing to an environment that supports national capability and operational readiness.

Day-to-day you'll be required to:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance, inspections and statutory compliance checks on gas and mechanical systems
  • Repair, service and fault-find on commercial boilers and associated equipment
  • Support mechanical asset replacement projects, upgrades and refurbishment activities
  • Maintain stock levels and inventory for mechanical maintenance activities
  • Undertake plumbing maintenance and repairs as required across the estate
  • Please note that this position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.

    The role is based onsite at Minley, and the set working times are Monday to Thursday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, and Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm, totalling 40 hours per week. An on-call rota will be required after six months in post.

    Essential experience of the Gas Engineer:

  • Proven experience working as a Commercial Gas Engineer
  • Experience servicing, maintaining and repairing commercial gas systems and boilers
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Experience delivering planned and reactive maintenance activities
  • Ability to work independently and safely within a busy operational environment
  • Qualifications for the Gas Engineer:

  • COCN1 or CODNCO1 Core Commercial Natural Gas Safety qualification
  • Full UK Manual Driving Licence
  • Security Clearance

    The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
