Purpose of Role
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Commercial Gas Engineer to join our Hard FM team supporting a Defence contract at RAF Benson. This is a site-based role, responsible for delivering planned and reactive commercial gas maintenance to ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of heating and hot water systems within a secure military environment.
Job Description
This position is well suited to an experienced commercial gas engineer who values stability, routine, and working within a technically varied but controlled site. You will be responsible for servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis, and compliance across a range of gas-fired plant and associated systems.
Responsibilities
•Undertake planned and reactive commercial gas maintenance on site.
• Service, repair, and maintain gas-fired boilers, water heaters, and associated mechanical plant.
• Diagnose and rectify faults in a safe and timely manner, ensuring full compliance with gas safety regulations.
• Complete works in line with contract KPIs and site procedures.
• Accurately record all works via PDA / CAFM system.
• Liaise effectively with site stakeholders, supervisors, and the helpdesk.
• Participate in an on-call rota to support out-of-hours issues when required.
Essential Qualifications/Skills
• Proven experience as a commercial gas engineer, ideally within FM or Defence environments.
• Hold valid commercial gas qualifications (COCN1, CIGA1, CDGA1, TPCP1/1A, etc.) – Essential.
• Strong knowledge of commercial heating systems and associated plant.
• Comfortable using electronic devices for job logging and compliance documentation.
• Willing to participate in an on-call rota (enhanced pay).
• Full UK Driving Licence (no more than 6 points).
• Ability to pass security clearance requirements.
