Multi-Skilled Operative - Gas Engineer/Operative

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 - 37 hours per week


The Vacancy

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Gas Engineer to join our in-house Repairs Team to deliver an effective high-quality repairs and maintenance service to our residents. This role is Monday-Friday.


Introduction to the role

You will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of works from a pre-allocated appointment system, ensuring that they are completed in line with relevant health and safety regulations, paying regard to cleanliness and tidiness.


What's the role?

You will work closely with the team leader, escalating any concerns or queries regarding your work.


The ideal candidate will have worked in a similar role and will be able to demonstrate relevant experience, and an understanding of health & safety regulations and qualifications (with at least 12 months until expiry) in the following:

  • CCN1, CEN1, WAT1, CKR1, HTR1, CPA1.
  • Servicing domestic gas appliances including boilers, back boilers fires and water heaters.
  • Competency of diagnosing faults and repairs in all areas of gas appliances, central heating systems and controls.


What are we looking for?

You will have the ability to accurately complete reports on both handwritten paperwork and electronic handheld devices. You will be well organised and able to work well as part of a team. Experience of working within responsive repairs and/or a housing environment. Competency in other trades would be an advantage but are not essential for the right candidate.


Essential:

  • Strong ability to diagnose and repair faults across a wide range of gas appliances and heating systems.
  • Current qualifications including CCN1, CEN1, WAT1, CKR1, HTR1, CPA1.
  • Solid understanding of relevant legislation, building regulations, and health & safety requirements.
  • A logical, methodical approach to problemsolving and faultfinding.
  • A full driving licence.
  • Ability to maintain a basic level DBS Check.


Desirable:

  • CMDDA1 (Fumes Investigation)
  • TCTP1a Testing & Purging (<1m3 in Volume)
  • DAH1 (Gas Fired Ducted Air Heaters)
  • Unvented G3 Qualification
