Job Description

The Oil and Gas Engineer is responsible for commissioning and servicing Synergy systems and COEX camera systems primarily on Oil and Gas installations, but also supporting other sectors.

The role includes the comprehensive testing and repair of equipment, troubleshooting customer-reported issues both onsite and offsite, ensuring quality standards are met, and delivering highly technical and complex hardware and software solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities

Principal Accountabilities

Commissioning Synectics equipment on customer sites in the UK, overseas, and offshore. Installing and commissioning security systems to a pre-defined specification. Investigating and resolving onsite faults. Testing equipment and systems pre-deployment, recording test results, and ensuring compliance with quality standards. Troubleshooting and conducting root cause analysis for system or equipment faults, including repairing or escalating issues as necessary. Managing customer return repairs (RMA), diagnosing faults down to component level, performing repairs onsite or at the company base, and preparing equipment for return to the customer. Training engineers, operators, supervisors, and managers on the use of Synectics solutions. Knowledge sharing with other engineers regarding specific technical information and troubleshooting techniques. Liaising with the sales team for system upgrades and other development opportunities. Producing technical documents, manuals, and risk and method statements when required. Completing site documentation, reports, and time sheets on a daily/weekly basis. Communicating with customers via telephone, email, and in person. Working with Synectics Technology Centre (STC) to test, validate, and deliver third-party software integrations. Providing feedback to enable process improvements within operations. Willing and able to work offshore and abroad at short notice. Willing and able to work overtime and out of hours as required.

Qualifications and Experience

Competence in Explosive Atmospheres (COMPEX). Knowledge and experience of electrical safety (Electrical Engineering, 18th Edition). Knowledge and experience of oil and gas industry and equipment Knowledge and experience of IP video systems and CCTV installation. Windows-based operating systems, including Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016. IP Networking (IP addressing, sub netting, routing, TCP, UDP, multicast). Microsoft qualifications (MCSA, MCSE, MCITP). Database knowledge (DB2, SQL). Experience working in a client-facing technical role. Experience working offshore. CRB Clearance.
